According to the first sales transactions of agricultural land after the lifting of the moratorium, the average price of land plots owned / leased is now 25 930 UAH / ha. So, the highest price was recorded in Transcarpathia (48,962 UAH / ha), Kiev (45,324 UAH / ha) and Odessa (38,763 UAH / ha). The lowest land prices are in Vinnitsa (UAH 15,926 / ha) and Mykolaiv (UAH 16,927 / ha).
In 2020, Ukraine, despite significant restrictions on international trade, which were associated with the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, was able not only to keep high places in the world rankings of exporters of certain agri-food products, but also took a leading position in terms of export volumes of meal and oil cake, millet, barley, honey, rapeseed and other types of agricultural products. According to the expert, Ukraine has traditionally ranked first in terms of sunflower oil exports. Last year, overseas sales of this product reached a record 6.86 million tonnes. In addition, increasing sales of meal and cake (mainly from sunflower) from 4.96 million tonnes in 2019 to 5.52 million tonnes (+ 11%) in 2020, Ukraine has become a leader among the exporters of these products on the international market.
USDA experts have increased the forecast for the global sunflower harvest in 2021/22 MY by 2.07 million tons to 56.99 million tons compared to the previous one (54.92 million tons). For Ukraine, USDA experts left unchanged the previous forecast for the sunflower crop at the level of 16.7 million tons. tons up to 6.99 million tons.
Prices are stable on the sunflower market so far, but with the start of the harvesting campaign, the cost of the crop will start to grow. This opinion was expressed by the analyst of Zernotorg.ua Alexander Tishchenko. “The sunflower market has been falling into suspended animation since June by default, and the price is gradually correcting until sometime in September, and only then it starts to grow. I think this year the seasonality will be observed, but with the adjustment for the fact that we are in a global growth trend, ” added the analyst.
USDA experts raised their forecast for world corn production in 2021/22 MY to 1,194.8 million tons, which is 4.95 million tons more than the previous forecast. The USDA experts left the estimate for Ukraine in MG 2021/22 unchanged from last month: corn production at 37.5 million tons, exports – 30.5 million tons, ending stocks – 1.11 million tons.
Export quotations for Black Sea wheat rose sharply in the second half of July amid weak sales by farmers and fears of a cut in yields in the main producing regions, including Russia, due to unfavorable weather conditions. At the same time, export demand for coverage of previously concluded contracts remains high. The prices were also supported by the growth of world quotations.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky July 22, 2021 signed Law No. 1601-IX “On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine Concerning Improving Legal Regulation of Insurance of Agricultural Products with State Support”, which the Verkhovna Rada adopted on July 1 of this year. It is noted that the adoption of the Law on Agricultural Insurance was the goal of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, provided for in the Development Strategy until 2030. The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Roman Leshchenko noted that this critical tool will allow us to support the agricultural sector with coverage of risks. In conditions of high volatility of weather factors, from now on, the state will provide and guarantee to farmers a stable income regardless of external circumstances.
