It is a well-known fact, that biomass is a renewable and environmentally friendly source of energy, interest to which grows steadily all over the world.

This is due to the constant rise in price of traditional fuels (oil, gas, coal), global warming and short payback period of projects on processing biomaterial into pure energy.

Ukraine agrarian sector is very timid and slow, but starts to bring under alternative energy sources. And, according to the experts, this trend is a real prospect of the next few years. After all, for agrarian companies it is an excellent mechanism of becoming energy independent, way to save and partial solution of environmental problems. The power of “green” energy sector in Ukraine increased for more than 3 times compared to the year 2016. A number of large agricultural companies have already implemented “green” projects.

Agroliga Group decided not to lag behind. And we are proud to announce that we’ve made a decision to try our hands in the implementation of such project. For the construction of this facility we have already allocated a plot of land of 0,35 hectares, which is located on the territory of creamery, which operates on pressing technology. Thus, the TPS will be located in close proximity to raw material base, existing networks and the borehole with necessary for TPS debit of water. In addition to all the above, we have already called for existence of qualified personnel to ensure efficiency  of the TPS.

We are going to use one of the common technologies for burning sunflower husk. While processing sunflower we get quite a large percentage of husk waste (about 14% of the total mass of sunflower seeds), previously considered as waste. Now, we will purchase and install two steam boilers with a steam generation capacity of 16 tons per hour each and one condensing steam turbo-generator with electric capacity of 7MW, which will create all the conditions for us to reach out to non-waste production.

At present, negotiations are under way with several power transmission organizations to obtain the most favorable technical conditions for connection to electrical networks. Land management project has already been drafted, town-planning conditions and restrictions received, proposals for funding are being under review. The total cost of project will be known after receiving documentation from the designers. High profitability of the project stems from the law, existing in Ukraine up until 2030 year, which approved the price of “green” tariff.

As a result, upon completion of construction works, we receive a non-waste production during sunflower processing, make our contribution in solving environmental issues, get additional income from selling “green” energy, and, if necessary, get the ability to switch over to the consumption of energy generated by TPS within the group companies.

Construction works are expected to start in the autumn of 2018, however, equipment will be ordered soon, because its manufacture period varies between 7 and 10 months.

Continue to evolve and go with the times.

With kind regards, team of GC “Agroliga”.
